Role: Graphic designer
Summary: This logo was a side project of mine in 2015. A friend of mine had approached me explaining that he and a colleague wanted to start a spirit wear company for different sports teams. He knew that I was studying digital arts, so he asked if I design a logo for his start-up company. The only direction given to me was that he wanted a "cool" character and that the G's were to be close together. "Swaggear" stands for "Spirit Wear & Athletic Gear."
Tools used: Adobe Photoshop
I designed the "Swaggear" logo to have a cool and sleek brand image. I did this because the target audience, along with the founders, are mostly young adults. I chose this crisp, sans-serif font to help convey this sleek image.
After showing my initial design to my friend, he said he felt that it was missing something. I brainstormed and decided that I would try to add a token character to help represent the brand better. I also added a drop shadow to the title to make it stand out.
When creating the token character, I had to keep in mind that the image was "cool", so I designed it to be leaning against the title of the company to look laid back.
I also made the decision to make the character appear as more of a silhouette to ensure that the brand is relatable to any audience.
